Give Me Love

12/2008

The best way to predict the future is to create it.

In my business, I deal with money. Here, behind this line drawing, it’s mostly about love. So I’ll share a story about both: I knew a man who had love and a woman who had money. They did not know each other.

The man felt tortured for having so much love and the woman felt tortured for having so much money. Their pain was sincere. Their pain was overwhelming; almost paralyzing. I felt sad. At the same time, I tried not to laugh. Come on? The world’s going to hell in a hand basket and you’re gonna sit around, in my office, at Christmas, and whine about having too much love and too much money? Sorry, not on my time, you’re not. Unfortunately, I had to send their business elsewhere. But I continued to wonder about their problems.

Love and Money are good things; wonderful things; happy things; something we (in the business) like to call ASSETS. Who wouldn’t be grateful for one or the other (or both)? This handsome man and this beautiful woman – that’s who!

They spent hours, days, weeks, complaining to me about their pain. They fed their pain regularly, nurtured it like a lover, cared for it daily. Yes, I have a standing motto: if it can be pretty, it should be pretty. Well, here’s another one: if you feed it, it will grow. And their pain grew to the point where they decorated their whole lives around it.

This man (who had love) wanted money. And this woman (who had money) wanted love. They both wanted a baby. I thought about introducing them. Then I thought again. Let them find each other, I decided. The Universe knows best.

In any case, maybe there’s a chance for them somewhere someday. Let’s hope so. Because in this short life, having Love and Money is good. Period. Here’s hoping all of you find lots of both forever and ever, and maybe this story will have a happy ending and someone can get kissed while making a six-figure, federally-insured deposit.

I gotta run. My man’s under the mistletoe. Still!
