Is Charles Schwab married? The question was posed at a dinner party recently, followed by the more amusing question, “Is Charles Schwab an actual person?” I could not have received a better opportunity to share my “Charlie story,” as I like to call it, but I held my tongue.
Let’s just say if One were to shoot a hole in one, at Pebble Beach on a sunny Sunday afternoon, One would want Charles Schwab watching. Wouldn’t One?
In addition, it would be nice if One were dressed in classic golf attire wearing simple dangly earrings and a touch of lip gloss, but that’s beside the point. Or is it?
So there I was, on the verge of tears over an personal loss, when I relaxed my grip, remembered a recent triumph, and took a swing. It felt good. Real good. The ball landed two feet from the cup, hit the pin, and dropped in just like magic. A man cheered. A caddie whispered, “Lady, that’s Charles Schwab.”
Let’s just say “Charlie” appreciated my style and wondered about my line of work. One thing led to another and that’s how I ended up brokering a deal that made several people, including my closest friends and family, very happy. Oh, and Charlie’s wife? She liked it too!
So next time you’re preparing to tee off, take a look around. It just may be the chance of a lifetime. Relax your grip and take a swing. The future is wide open.
